ATU Donegal give Erasmus students the option to study for one or two semesters. °ÄÃŶIJÊÍøÖ·´óÈ«,°ÄÃŻʹÚÌåÓýs can select modules from
one
course only
(please see courses listed on the application form and subsequent modules here).
Entry to courses is subject to change and therefore not guaranteed.
Nomination and Application
You will be nominated by the Erasmus coordinator in your home institute. Once nominated, you will receive the application form.
If you have not been nominated, please reach out to the Erasmus Office in your home university.

Step 1
After you are nominated by the Erasmus coordinator in your home institute, you will be sent a link to the Application Form. Please submit ONE application form only.
Step 2

Step 3
All applications will be processed after the deadline (Deadlines: 1st May for Semester One and 1st November for Semester Two)

FAQs Erasmus °ÄÃŶIJÊÍøÖ·´óÈ«,°ÄÃŻʹÚÌåÓýs
ATU Donegal is located in a busy commercial town called Letterkenny, County Donegal, which has a population of around 22,500. There is a second campus located in the port town of Killybegs on the south coast of Donegal.
Both campuses are in the Republic of Ireland, but the county of Donegal borders Northern Ireland.
In order to study at ATU Donegal, your home institute and ATU Donegal need to have an inter-institutional agreement.
Please check with your Erasmus Office if there is such an agreement in place.
As all lectures, coursework and assignments are conducted through English, a good command of the language is required. Please see here for English Language Requirements.
A list of available courses will be on the Application form, which you will receive after you are nominated. Note: You can only choose modules from one course. Available courses will be chosen from here. Erasmus students cannot take part in Masters or Part-time courses.
The following marking scheme and percentages apply in ATU:
Honours Degree:
First Class Honours: 70% - 100%
Second Class Honours Grade 1: 60% - 69%
Second Class Honours Grade 11: 50% - 59%
Pass: 40% - 49%
Ordinary Degree/Higher Certificate:
Distinction: 70% - 100%
Merit 1: 60% - 69%
Merit 2: 50% - 59%
Pass: 40% - 49%
ATU uses the ECTS (European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System), which is a student-centred system based on student workload.
ECTS credits represent the student workload required to achieve the desired outcomes of modules and programmes. Each year of full-time undergraduate study carries 60 credits.
Credit values for modules are usually 5, 10 or 15 ECTS value depending on the length of the module and the number of hours.
No, ATU Donegal does not currently own any student accommodation. All the available accommodation is owned by local private landlords.
However, you can refer to the °ÄÃŶIJÊÍøÖ·´óÈ«,°ÄÃŻʹÚÌåÓý Union¡¯s accommodation list to find ATU-approved places. The list is updated from time to time and can be accessed here.
Prices range from €250 - €380 per month for a single room in a shared house with shared bathroom and kitchen. There will be some additional fees for bills such as electricity and Wi-Fi.
Most students arrive into Dublin Airport and get the public bus to Letterkenny - this takes approx. three and a half hours. You should purchase a bus ticket online beforehand, or you may also buy one on the bus.
There is also a private bus company travelling from the Airport to Letterkenny. Please contact the Erasmus office for their timetable.
Start date for students, unless otherwise specified by your department, is 16th September 2024. Start date for Semester two is 20th January 2025.
We understand that circumstances may change, and that students might have to withdraw. Please email erasmus.donegal@atu.ie explaining you have withdrawn.
