The Department of Computing at Atlantic Technological University (ATU) Donegal will host two weeks of Computing Summer Camps in June 2023. There is no cost to attend this year's camps, the aim of the camps is to improve the skills and knowledge of secondary school students in the field of Computing.

The Camp will take place from 10am to 3pm Monday to Friday and is open to children between the ages 12 to 17. The camp will be on Campus in ATU Letterkenny, you need to register to attend the camp. The camp will incorporate the following workshops:


Computer Science Unplugged
Learn all about how computers operate while engaging in off-line activities, games, and puzzles. Get creative while playing games and engaging in arts and crafts all while learning how computers work.


Developing web content with WordPress
WordPress is the simplest, most popular way to create your own website or blog without needing to know anything about programming. WordPress is an open-source system and 43.3% of all the websites on the Internet are created using WordPress. 澳门赌彩网址大全,澳门皇冠体育s will learn how to install WordPress on their computer and also how to use the Gutenberg Editor to create content for a website or blog. 澳门赌彩网址大全,澳门皇冠体育s will also learn how to create website Pages and blog Posts using themes and widgets. Creating menu options will allow students to navigate their website. The students can publish their own websites (privately) once created.


Programming with Turtle Graphics
Learn to code with Python turtle graphics and see your code come to life on screen. Learn to draw all sorts of shapes and objects while learning computer programming and create your own designs while discovering the power of Python turtle graphics.


Thunkable Mobile App Development
Thunkable uses a Visual Programming methodology, similar to Scratch to allow children of all ages make fun Mobile Applications. This block-based coding environment allows students to create and deploy applications onto Mobile Devices. The apps they create with Thunkable are very functional, interacting with sensors onboard the Mobile Device and create interactive applications that use Artificial Intelligence techniques to recognise objects via the camera on the device.


Coding with Swift playgrounds
In this workshop the children will learn how to write code in Swift, which is the programming language for all iOS (Apple) devices, they will do this using an application called Swift Playgrounds. 澳门赌彩网址大全,澳门皇冠体育s learn logic and coding fundamentals through gamification - solving puzzles by writing code to tell a character in a maze-based game how to navigate through different problems.
